Your artwork and profile will be displayed on our website. Visitors to the website will see your artwork images and profile as they browse our art gallery or artists pages. You can help to direct visitors to your own Acquire Art profile, where they can then view your online portfolio.
Tell your friends and family and ask them to let others know that your work can be viewed on Acquire Art. They will be able to search for your name in order to find your profile, or they can be given a direct link to your profile. Word of mouth marketing also encompasses blogging and social media marketing, both of which can help spread awareness of your work as an artist and allow you to mention your Acquire Art profile. Blogging and Social Media will be looked at in more detail below.
A great way to aid you with word of mouth marketing. Always carry business cards with you so that when you mention to someone that your work can be viewed on Acquire Art, you can hand them a business card with your unique Acquire Art URL so that they won’t forget how to view your Acquire Art profile.
Ask local business if they would mind displaying a small advert promoting you as an artist and mentioning your Acquire Art profile, or ask if you can leave some business cards with them for their customers to take if interested. You could perhaps offer to help spread the word about their business in return. If you know other artists with an open studio or who regularly attend art fairs, you could ask them to display a small advert and take some of your business cards with them.
Social media, briefly mentioned above, is a form of word of mouth marketing that is an extremely useful tool in promoting your Acquire Art profile and your personal website if you have one. You can link to both of these from your social media accounts, including Twitter, Facebook or the many others out there. Whenever you add a new artwork image to Acquire Art or update any details on your profile, share a link to all your social media accounts so that your followers/friends will know about it. If they like what they see they might ‘retweet’ your post so that all of their followers on Twitter can see it too, or ‘like’ it on facebook so that their facebook friends can see it. The more friends and followers you have the better. Pinterest and Instagram are two other socials that can really help, especially as they’re more visual and therefore perfect for displaying pictures of your art. Setting up social accounts is usually very quick and easy, and sharing your artwork on them is even easier, especially using the share icons on each of your artwork showcase pages on Acquire Art.
Blogging sites allow you to write articles about pretty much anything you want. If you already have a blog site, then writing an article about Acquire Art and including a link to your own Acquire Art profile page is a great way to let your current readers know about your artwork and the community you’re part of.
If you’ve not had a blog before but feel you would enjoy writing about things you feel passionate about, then a blog is a great way to share your thoughts and build an audience while doing so. Most bloggers tend to focus their blog on one topic to make sure that all the articles are relevant to their readers, so in this case the topic would be art, or perhaps a more specific area of art. If any of your articles have relevance to your work as an artist, then include a link to your Acquire Art profile page in your blog article.
You can create your own blog on various sites, the most widely used being WordPress, but you do need a little technical experience to set it up (a web developer can help you if required). It also includes hosting costs. Wix, Weebly and Square Space are other options – these are self-build websites that can provide a blogging feature. There are usually costs involved for access to full features, but free versions are available if you don’t mind promotional ads being shown on your blog site. A popular free blogging site is Blogger.com which also doesn’t require any technical ability.
If you’re a good writer and really passionate about your subject, you can even earn money writing articles for other blog sites to use. A successful blog needs frequent content to engage readers and keep their interest, so blog owners often pay to have articles written for their blog.
Creating links from your social media profiles to your Acquire Art profile is not only beneficial for word of mouth marketing, but ‘link building’ helps to add credibility to the site you are linking to and helps boost that site in the search engine rankings. Lots of one-way links to your Acquire Art profile will help to place Acquire Art higher in the search engine rankings, which helps make your profile accessible to a larger market. You will be helping the entire Acquire Art community, but this is fundamentally how Acquire Art works – it’s a community of artists, helping one another. The success of Acquire Art has a direct impact on the visibility of your own profile, and so this is where we encourage all Acquire Art members to help promote the website and make it a success for everyone. Acquire Art itself offers the same benefit to you if you have your own personal website, as it allows you to place a link to your own website from your profile (this must be a website promoting your artwork or you as an artist). You can also link to your social media accounts to drive more traffic to them also.
You can try asking other websites to link to your Acquire Art profile too, but usually a trade is expected. Ask local businesses who have their own website if they would be happy to promote your Acquire Art profile by placing a link to it from their website. They may offer to do this for free, especially if you are a regular customer, or they may ask for a fee (much like when you put a notice up in a shop window). You could maybe offer a return favour instead, perhaps offering to give them a positive review or testimonial for them to include on their website or business literature, or you could ‘tweet’ about them or link to their website or Facebook page if you are a Facebook or Twitter user. If you have your own website you can offer to return the favour by placing a link from your website to theirs. Unfortunately you are not allowed to promote other businesses from your Acquire Art profile as this is in breach of our terms and conditions.
There are lots of online directories usually offering their services for free and quite often allowing you to link to a website, which could be your Acquire Art profile. Search for the online directories with an art related category and then post a listing for yourself as an artist and link it to your Acquire Art profile.
All of the tips above will certainly help to drive more traffic to your Acquire Art profile. It can be a labour of love but you can do as little or as much as you like. Just remember to mention your Acquire Art profile to anyone and everyone, whenever you get the chance! Business cards will help people remember to look up your profile later. Share a link to your Acquire Art profile through your social media accounts, and do so fairly regularly and especially every time you add a new artwork. Ask all your friends to do the same. Promote yourself as an artist wherever you can – in shop windows, on other people’s websites and in online directories. Always try and include a link to your Acquire Art profile if you are permitted to do so.
