A watercolour scene by the Rochdale canal near Todmorden. For many years this scene would have been a powerhose of industry with barges coming and going through the locks pulled by Mules along the Towpaths. The first railways were here cutting through this ancient valley carved by the last Ice Age. Great tunnels were blasted through hillsides to run alongside the Turnpike roads. Mill Chimneys would blacken the air and the sound of industry would be everywhere. Now all is at peace, this is the new Industrial Winter.
