Maureen is a visual artist who is driven to paint things that capture her eye; in most cases the inspiration comes from Sea and Landscapes. She has exhibited in and around the Cotswolds, Ireland and France at various galleries and exhibitions, She studied Art to A ‘level at school, but is otherwise self-taught. Selected artwork included in the Oxford Art Book, published in September 2018.
Following a submission of her work in 2015, Maureen was awarded a two week ‘Artist Residency’ at Cill Rialaig Project in Ballinskillings, Co Kerry Ireland.
Maureen started out working in acrylics but now works mostly in oils and pastel, she loves the effect these mediums can bring to a painting.
She has two distinct styles and prefers to use a variety of techniques to obtain the end result. Many of her figurative works are done using brushes, however for abstract work she likes to use pallet knife, fingers or sponges to gain the desired effect.
Capturing ideas and images en plein air with sketches and photos is all part of her desire to execute a well planned painting as is the exciting the process of producing the end result, transferring her thoughts and feelings about the subject to the viewer.
